Centor goes the distance
|
A group of 24 Centor walkers took off from Mount Glorious on the 17th June to walk 100km to Mount Coot-tha as part of the Oxfam Trailwalker. Having trained for over six months and raised nearly $27,000 for the charity, spirits were high when our walkers stepped off from the start line. The Brisbane trail stood true to its reputation of being the most difficult in Australia, with 27% of the 1,132 participants forced to retire from the event. Blisters, swollen joints and general fatigue were the most common ailments suffered by the walkers. However, our support crew made Trailwalker much more bearable, meeting walkers at checkpoints along the trail with a warm meal, blankets and plenty of smiles. Centor was particularly proud to have five whole teams of four cross the finish line, losing only one team member to blisters. Our fastest team ‘Centor Unhinged’ finished the course just shy of 24 hours with the last team crossing the line 37 hours after setting out on Friday. Trailwalker has provided Centor with a wonderful opportunity to team-build and, more importantly, give back to our global community by helping those less fortunate. The money Centor has raised will help Oxfam fight poverty in developing countries. Thank-you to all who have contributed. If you still wish to donate, Centor will continue to fundraise until 19th July. To pledge a donation please click on a team name below:
