Centor smashes Trailwalker 2012!

It was 15th June 2012 and Oxfam Trailwalker Brisbane was back for another year! And so to was Centor! With three teams signing-up for the event, 12 Centor walkers set off from Mount Glorious to walk 100km over 48 hours. There were three new walkers and nine returning for another year. For those who were back to do it again, the pre-event nerves were particularly bad just knowing what they were in for.

However, despite blisters, swollen joints and fatigue, Centor was proud to have 100% of our walkers cross the finish line! When compared to the event average, just 70% of walkers finished, with only 39% of the 353 teams making it with all four members. Changes to the trail from last year’s event took the overall vertical ascent to 4,500m, again confirming Brisbane Trailwalker is the toughest in the country.

All walkers agree they wouldn’t have been able to finish without the help of their support crew. These behind-the-scenes heroes of Trailwalker waited at checkpoints along the trail at all hours of the day and night to give Centor walkers fresh clothes, food and general encouragement. Thank you to the Centor Support Crew!

Centor has raised nearly $10,000 for Oxfam to help those living in poverty around the world. Thank-you to all who have donated. If you still want to pledge your support, fundraising will continue until the 17th of July. To make a donation, please click on a team
